VANKE acompanied by the directors of the NAI
To stimulate the exchange of knowledge and strengthen networks, many
times a year the NAi invites a
foreign expert to come to Rotterdam. The NAI puts together a tailor made programme
that enables the visitor to become acquainted with numerous organizations and
people relevant to him or her within a short period of time.
In 2010, lots of special guests visited the NAI.
Among them were Henry Urbach (curator of Architecture and Design at
the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art), Omer Kanipak (founder of the Arkitera
Architecture Center), a group of Urban Pioneers from The Architecture
Foundation London, VANKE (the largest project developer in
China) and The New Mumbai Architects, a group that occupies a central position
in an NAI Matchmaking project.
As a part of the cultural Speed Date organized by the Prince Claus Fund on December 14, architect José Forjaz from Mozambique was invited by the NAI for a stay of 11 to 16 December 2011. After his visit we asked him a few questions. > Read more...
On 30 November, the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) hosted a cultural programme for the president of Mali in cooperation with the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden and architect Pierre Maas. During the spectacular opening of our renewed building several Chinese guests were present, including Liu Xiaodu from architect company Urbanus. Urbanus is one of the eight designers / design companies participating in our exhibition Daring Design. Following the Blueprints of Paradise Competition, the NAI invited N’Goné Fall (jury member) to Rotterdam from the 7th until the 10th of April, within the context of the international visitors program. Ngoné Fall is architect, curator, art critic and advisor in the field of cultural policy. Fall organised an impressive amount of events in Europe and Africa with a special focus on themes like the African identity. > Read more...
