For several years the NAI has been working with partners abroad to organise debates on location under the title Debates on Tour. Dutch speakers are invited to join in debate with their local colleagues. By raising topical, global themes in architecture and urban planning for discussion on the most diverse locations in the world, we hope to promote the exchange of knowledge on a global scale. This exchange is deepened during the Debates on Tour @ Home, in which selected foreign experts are invited to the NAI for further discussion.
Debates on request
The NAI organises the debates in cooperation with local partners who use their network and know-how to find the appropriate local discussion partners and audience. The NAI will invite Dutch designers, architects and experts for the debate. Various (firms of) architects, each with a particular specialisation, are connected with the programme of debates.

What is the role of the masterplan in Tehran’s development? Is the tardiness in its implementation a failing or a blessing? Administrative incompetence or an act of resistance? Might support for it be increased by involving Tehran’s inhabitants in the restructuring of their city?
