In collaboration with partners abroad, the NAI organises debates on location under the title Debates on Tour. Dutch expert speakers are invited to join in debate with their local colleagues. The NAI aims to promote the exchange of knowledge on a global scale by raising topical themes in architecture and urban planning for discussion at diverse locations around the world.
Local partners
Together with our local partners we engage local professional communities in thought- and action-provoking events. Local partners use their network and know-how to propose appropriate local discussion partners and venues and attract a suitable audience. Precise topics, formats and speakers are selected in collaboration. The NAI invites Dutch designers, architects and other experts for the debate. Additional programme, like excursions and workshops, can be added to deepen and enliven the debate.
New: Activist events
A new variant of the Debates on Tour are the more spontaneous and activist flash events. Moving beyond promoting and discussing the public role of architecture, these debates are intended to inspire action. Public space is their natural habitat. The ideal outcome might be a kind of ‘bid book’ or proposal, collaboratively produced by local and international participants, to be offered to the city.

Keep an eye out for updates on Facebook and Twitter. Especially for the flash events, which might be announced on the spot!
