Visitors programme april 2011 N'Goné Fall
Following the Blueprints of Paradise Competition,
the NAI invited N’Goné Fall (jury member) to Rotterdam from the 7th
until the 10th of April, within the context of the international visitors program.
Ngoné Fall is architect, curator, art critic and advisor in the field
of cultural policy. Fall organised an impressive amount of events in
Europe and Africa with a special focus on themes like the African
identity.
During this visit jury member Joe Osae-Addo, price winners Oladayo Oladunjoye, Kobina Banning and Martin Kruger, director of African Art Matters Berend van der Lans and researcher Daniela Castelbranco were also present. 
The program included guided tours by landscape architects through several remarkable architectonical neighbourhoods, a meeting with designer Jeanne van Heeswijk (Freehouse projects) and a debate: The future of built Africa.

The African continent is developing rapidly. Over half of the 1 billion Africans will be living in a city or its suburbs by 2025. Just like in the other cities of the world, African cities are struggling with issues such as waste disposal, housing shortages and spatial planning. How could Africa deal with these problems? A number of ideas are presented in the exhibition ‘Blueprints of Paradise’ and during the lecture evening at the NAI.

On Monday 28 september 2009, during the conference African Perspectives, the NAI organized a Debate on Tour in Pretoria, in cooperation with ArchiAfrika. The main topic: ‘How can the African City Centre with its (historical) identity and with care for cultural, mineral and physical resources best be prepared for the future in the comtemporary global context?’ The shortage of resources to sustain the centre and the development of townships were main themes.
