Invitation to launching of UAR Amsterdam
Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI)
ARCAM, Architecture Centre Amsterdam
Ajax Stadium de Meer back in Amsterdam
The free architecture application UAR shows what Amsterdam will be like, was like, or might have been like
The Netherlands Architecture Institute and the Architecture Centre Amsterdam ARCAM will jointly launch the Amsterdam edition of the free 3D architecture application UAR (Urban Augmented Reality) on 11 November 2010. With UAR, your mobile phone gives you information about the built environment with text, image, archival material and film. The special feature of this application is that, right in the middle of the city, augmented reality enables you to see what the city will be like, was like, or might have been like in the past. The inclusion of advanced 3D models produced by DPI Animation House shows what is not there. Thus the former Ajax Stadium De Meer is back in Amsterdam, you can see an alternative design for the Rijksmuseum, and UAR lets you admire the new film museum in all its glory. After Rotterdam, Amsterdam is the first city in the world to be included in the application. The NAI, which initiated UAR, will launch the application in The Hague and Utrecht at the beginning of 2011.
The Netherlands Architecture Institute and ARCAM have the pleasure of inviting you to the official launching of the Amsterdam edition of UAR. This will take place on Thursday 11 November from 14:00 to 16:00 hrs at ARCAM, Prins Hendrikkade 600, Amsterdam.
